ABOUT LSM

Founded by Pastor & Prophetess Talabi

The Lighthouse School of Ministry was established by Pastor & Prophetess Talabi through the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit, to train and equip lay church members for effective service alongside the leader, pastor, and pastor’s wife in the local church.

CURRICULUM

Course Offerings

30 hours of academic study across three concentrations. Click each category to explore the courses.

LSM 501 — Systematic Theology (12 Credits)
The division of theology into systems explaining its various areas: Theology Proper, Christology, Pneumatology, Bibliology, Soteriology, Ecclesiology, Eschatology, Angelology, Christian Demonology, and Hamartiology.

LSM 301 — Survey of Old Testament (3 Credits)
A survey of the Pentateuch and Former Prophets with emphasis on understanding God’s character and His redemptive history. (Not currently available)

LSM 401 — Survey of New Testament (3 Credits)
A walk through the New Testament with insights into historical, literary, and theological character.

LSM 1005 — Principles of Christ-Centered Preaching (1 Credit) Elective
The art and principles of communicating biblical concepts in an effective and theologically sound manner.

LSM 1006 — Teaching Effective Bible Study (1 Credit) Elective
Basic skills for accomplishing the objectives of small-group Bible study (BBF).

LSM 801 — Developing Leadership Skill (3 Credits)
This course focuses on leadership in the Kingdom of God. It examines what the New Testament has to say about how the Christian church — both universal and local — is to be led, constructed, and governed. Students explore leadership structures, definitions of offices, and how authority is embodied within them, gaining fresh insight into the roles of leaders and their relationships.

LSM 101 — Preparation for Effective Ministry (3 Credits) Parts 1 & 2
Introduces the what and how of ministry. Gain valuable knowledge of ministry and how to effectively prepare for service in the local church.

LSM 901 — Developing Effective Prayer Ministry (3 Credits)
Practical measures to develop prayer skills and the requirements for effective prayer ministry.

LSM 1002 — Sharpening Your Interpersonal Skill (3 Credits)
Biblical foundation for understanding the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed for healthy interpersonal relationships.

LSM 601 — Issues in Counseling (3 Credits)
Integrate basic counseling skills in community-based settings, working with lay members going through personal issues. Covers diverse needs in the church setting including students, families, and transitional planning.

LSM 1001 — Finance and Stewardship in the Local Church (3 Credits)
Bookkeeping, church treasury operations, legal ramifications, and proper accounting practices for the local church.

LSM 2001 — Leading Effective Bible Study Class

LSM 1003 — Child/Youth Workers Ministry (1 Credit) Elective
Definitions, requirements, and qualifications of a Child/Youth Worker. Skills for organizing and leading effective children’s and youth ministry.

LSM 1007 — Practical Training for Ushers (1 Credit) Elective
Compassionate and effective skills for counseling those who are hurting, stimulating personal growth, and helping people cope with life’s challenges.

Duration

Yearly program runs September through May. Graduation held annually in May.

Degree

Upon successful completion and fulfilling all the requirements, graduates receive an Associate Degree in Ministry.

$300

Tuition is FREE. The $300 one-time registration fee covers lecture materials, graduation gowns and cap, school T-shirt, gifts, and support for mission. Scholarship by Sponsorship may be available — a basic essay is required to qualify.
